2010 Player Contract

All Divisions:
A player can only play in one division during a season.  Any "and under" player is only eligible to play all stars in the division that he or she played in during the regular season.

Pinto: No more than 1 inning per pitcher, per game. No rest necessary between outings.

Mustang and Bronco
: No more than 3 innings in a calendar day, no more than 6 innings in a calendar week. 2 or less innings pitched require 24 hours rest, 3 innings pitched require 40 hours rest.

Pony
: No more than 7 innings in a calendar day, no more than 10 innings in a calendar week. 3 or less innings pitched require 24 hours rest, 4 or more innings pitched require 40 hours rest.

Colt and Palomino
:
No more than 9 innings in a calendar day. 5 innings or more pitched require 40 hours rest.

* Rest period is from the start time of the game pitched. Example: Player pitches in a game on Thursday that starts at 7:30pm and is required 40 hours rest. He/she is eligible to pitch in game on Saturday that will start as early as 11:30am. * Even though we are not requiring a pitch count, the league is strongly recommending that the Manager and Coaching staff take the pitch
count into consideration when having a pitcher take the mound each inning.

Below are some rules we are going to enforce better this year.

1. Meeting at the mound: This meeting should consist of Manager, pitcher, catcher and 1 other infielder. No more will we allow all infielders to attend such meeting. Example: Manager goes out to talk with his pitcher, the catcher joins in the meeting. At this time the 1st basemen joins the meeting, all other infielders and outfielders are to remain at their positions. This also includes pitching changes. Meeting does not have to include all positions mentioned above.

2. Batter must at all times during his/her plate appearance keep 1 foot in the batters box. Example: batter gets sign as he/she is making their way to plate, first pitch is delivered for ball 1, batter must then keep 1 foot in box while stepping out with the other to receive next sign from coach. Batter may ask Umpire for time as he/she re-enters batters box before pitcher is allowed to pitch. It will be left up to the Umpires discretion as to the readiness of the batter and to motion to the pitcher to play.

These two things alone, along with some other rules will help speed up the game and allow more innings to be played.

How to be a good coach....

Aspects of Good Coaching:

Here are some suggestions. Some are common sense but others have to be worked on a little.
Win-Loss record. The success of your players' development is not dependent on your wins and losses.

· Be firm but fair when it comes to discipline.

 · Demand promptness in yourself and your players.

· Be positive when giving instruction or offering constructive advice.

· Make the evaluation and opinion of your players yours, not a combination of other coaches, parents and outsiders. You have the first-hand knowledge of them so don't let popular opinion sway your thinking.

· Learn to delegate responsibility to your assistants.

· Communicate with your assistants.

· Demand that your players hustle at all times.

· Do not allow profanity.

· Do not allow the throwing of equipment.

· Your coaches going to the coaching boxes should run, not walk. Set a good example.

· All coaches should be in the game on every pitch. Be alert for all mistakes made on defense; i.e. positioning and mental errors. When a coach comes to realize that baseball is played one pitch at a time, an entire new world opens up for him and he becomes much more effective.

· Use your voice during games. It is an asset and your players are used to hearing it. Don't become mute when the game begins.

· Teach.

Pitching Eligibility for each division: Pinto: No more than 1 inning per pitcher, per game. No rest necessary between outings.
